Metal Quality Guide

Our Materials

At The Golden Strand, we use only premium metals selected for longevity, beauty, and everyday wear. Permanent jewelry should feel effortless, but it should also be crafted to last.

14k Solid Gold

Solid gold is the highest-quality option for fine jewelry. It is waterproof, highly resistant to tarnish, and designed to last a lifetime. Solid gold can be polished, repaired, and enjoyed indefinitely, making it the ideal choice for permanent jewelry and heirloom pieces.

Rose Gold

Rose gold is a solid gold alloy blended with copper to create its signature warm blush tone. It offers the same durability and longevity as yellow gold, with a softer, romantic aesthetic. Rose gold is an excellent option for permanent jewelry.

Gold Filled

Gold filled jewelry features a thick layer of gold mechanically bonded to a core metal. This process creates a durable finish that resists fading and tarnish far better than traditional gold plating. Gold filled offers the look and feel of solid gold at a more accessible price point and is suitable for everyday wear.

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver is a solid metal composed of 92.5% silver. Over time, sterling silver may naturally develop a patina, which can be easily polished back to its original shine. With proper care, sterling silver remains a timeless and beautiful choice.

Our Commitment to Quality

We believe permanent jewelry should be made to endure. For this reason, we do not offer gold plated or vermeil chains, as those finishes wear down more quickly with daily wear. Every piece from The Golden Strand is crafted with materials chosen for lasting beauty and integrity.

Designed for Everyday Life

Our jewelry is created for real wear—showers, workouts, ocean swims, and daily routines. For the longest-lasting results, we recommend solid gold or rose gold. Gold filled and sterling silver offer beautiful alternatives with thoughtful care.

Care and Wear

Permanent jewelry is designed for everyday wear. With simple care, your pieces will maintain their beauty over time.

  • Clean gently with warm water and a mild dish soap. Use a soft toothbrush if buildup occurs.

  • Avoid spraying perfume or applying lotions directly onto your jewelry.

  • Polish occasionally with a soft jewelry cloth to restore shine.

  • Natural oils, sweat, and skin pH may cause subtle, natural wear over time.

  • Limit prolonged exposure to chemicals found in pools, hot tubs, and cleaning products.

  • Store pieces away from friction when possible, to prevent scratching.

Complimentary rewelding is offered if the original chain remains intact.

FAQs

The Permanent Jewelry Experience
What is permanent jewelry?

Permanent jewelry is a clasp-less piece of jewelry that can be applied to many areas of your body including neck, wrist, ankles, fingers and waist.

Will permanent jewelry last forever?

Permanent jewelry will stand the test of time and is designed for consistent everyday wear. Negligence, chemical exposure, and continuous snags can cause issues such as breaks or tarnishing with your jewelry.

Can permanent jewelry be removed?

Yes, with proper tools. If the piece needs to be removed, you can locate the jump ring and cut it using flush cutters or nail clippers. We are happy to reweld the jump ring at no cost, if your jewelry needs to be removed for any reason

How does the process work, and does it hurt?!

Each piece is custom-fitted to you and welded closed using a professional micro-welding tool. The process is quick, precise, and completely painless.

A small protective barrier is placed between your skin and the jewelry, and the weld takes just a moment to create a seamless, clasp-free finish. The result is a delicate, continuous piece designed for effortless everyday wear.
